Regional Disparity and Dynamic Distribution Evolution of Agricultural Productivity Growth in China under Environmental Pollution Constraint

Abstract:Applying SBM directional distance function approach,this paper measured the agricultural productivity of China s 30 provinces from 1998 to 2009 incorporating agricultural pollution constraint and investigated the evolution of regional agricultural productivity distribution through the dynamic distribution approach.The main results are as follows:ignoring agricultural pollution constraint will overestimate the overall agricultural productivity;it is not likely to find the phenomenon of regional agricultural productivity convergence,the regional disparities of agricultural productivity in China will continue for a long time;agriculture economic development,agricultural structure,agricultural infrastructure investment and income inequality have a significant effect on agricultural productivity under the environmental pollution constraint.
