Abstract：This paper firstly calculated and discussed market segmentation of Chinese agricultural production means accurately based on the price index method,and then used the System GMM which can effectively control the endogeneity problem to estimate the effect of production means market segmentation and other factors on the production technical efficiency of agriculture.We find that:The market segmentation phenomenon of agricultural production means commonly exists in Chinese provinces,which overall presents an M trend and is closely related to the development and evolution of the transportation industry;From the regional perspective,the degree of market segmentation in the western region is more serious,and the eastern region of which is the lightest.Production technology efficiency of Chinese agriculture overall shows a rising trend after decline.The agricultural production technical efficiency of the eastern provinces is high,and that of the western region experiences a steady growth,while central region experiences an“central collapse”phenomenon.Market segmentation of agricultural production means would reduce the allocation efficiency of agricultural production factors,and inhibit the improvement of agricultural production technical efficiency.
