On the Difference of Industrial Clusters' Externality Across Chinese High-tech Industries——Based on Provincial Panel Data from 2009 to 2014

Abstract:By utilizing panel data of Chinese High-tech industries across 24 provinces or municipalities from 2009 to 2014,this paper analyses the influence of three kinds of externality on various high-tech industries.The outcome shows that:①In Industry of Medicines Manufacture,MAR spillover effect is negatively related to the development of the industry,while Jacobs spillover shows a positive effect and Porter spillover has little effect.②In Industry of Manufacture of Electronic Equipment and Communication Equipment,MAR spillover effect is also negatively related to the development of the industry and Jacobs spillover shows little effect,but Porter spillover gives a boost to the development of this industry.③Both MAR and Porter spillover effect in Industry of Manufacture of Computers and Office Equipment are positively related to the development of the industry,but Jacobs spillover effect does not exist.④In Industry of Manufacture of Medical Equipments and Measuring Instrument,MAR spillover effect does harm to the development of the industry,but Jacobs spillover effect is beneficial,while Porter spillover has little effect.Based on the above conclusion,some suggestions for the development of high-tech industries are provided
