Abstract:The evolution and development of technology presents the alternate characteristics of continuity and discontinuity. The causes of technical discontinuities include important revolution of technical principles, core components, technological architectures, processing technologies, and technological integration, etc.,and are influenced by the development of complementary technologies, demand change and institution regulation. The technological discontinuities have “creative destruction” effects on enterprise, and to surmount the interruption of technological discontinuities, enterprises can apply the strategies as follows:one is to establish the heterogeneity of thinking, originally leading the new technology trend or rapidly following the environmental changes;the second is to pay high attention on both the technical performance dimension extension and niche market innovation to follow tightly with the shift of customer's preferences and target markets;the third is to establish independent organizational institution to break the existing barriers, incubating and fostering discontinuous innovation.
