The Co-Evolution Path of Innovation Situation, Absorptive Capacity and Open Innovation

Abstract:Based on the external situation and internal ability of the organization,this paper takes how to implement open innovation as the problem-oriented,and selects the cross-case study of Huawei,Haier and Procter & Gamble.This paper attempts to explore the co-evolution path of situation and open innovation,in which absorptive capacity is regarded as an important participating variable.The results are as follows.①The dynamic change of open innovation path with innovation situation shows the law of “internal dependence-inside type (IDIT)—dominant participation-coupled type (DPCT)—community creation-coupled type (CCCT)”.②The open innovation model has a high matching with the innovation situation.③The possible influencing factors of the open direction of open innovation are industry attribute,technology life cycle and corporate culture.④Absorptive capacity is not only the premise of the implementation of open innovation,but also the goal of open innovation.The evolution of absorptive capacity is not only the premise and foundation of open innovation,but also the goal of open innovation.The evolution of absorptive capacity plays an important role in promoting the change of open innovation,together with the innovation situation,they form a co-evolution model.
