The Safety Policies for the Organism from Genome Editing Technology in US and Europe and the Implication for China

Abstract:Genome editing technology(GET)provides a revolutionary genetic manipulation tool for crop genetic improvement.However,the policies for GET safety regulation remain unclear across the world.Based on a comprehensive review of the development of genomics editing techniques,this paper analyzes the strategies and core ideas of the regulation for the GET in Europe and the United States deeply,identifying the similarities and differences between GET and GMO safety management policies.Based on the analysis,the paper finally provides suggestions to GET safety management policy formulation for policy making in China.
