Abstract:Being Embedded in high-end position and preventing being“squeezed out”GVC are the important parts of three-step upgrading strategy.How does technological innovation affect the GVC upgrading? Is there a difference among different industries? What kind of industry should be given priority to upgrading? The paper uses KPWW method to calculate GVC position index of manufacturing from 2005 to 2014.From the“embedded”in high-end position perspective,the paper studies the influence of technological innovation input and innovation output on GVC upgrading,and then from preventing being squeezed out perspective,it uses the DEA method to measure the efficiency of upgrading of different industries.The empirical results show that we should pay attention to the technological innovation,and stimulate the innovation power of the non-technology-intensive manufacturing industry to achieve the transformation to the high-end industry.Meanwhile we also should enhance the innovation performance of the technology-intensive manufacturing industry to avoid the low-end status of high-end industry.In order to pursue the efficiency of upgrading,non-technology-intensive manufacturing technology innovation should be given priority.
