Abstract:As an advanced productive service industry,science and technology service industry,provides intellectual services to the enterprises by using modern scientific knowledge,technology and information.Science and technology service industry can reduce manufacturing cost with specialized division of labor,form the core competitiveness of enterprises through technology innovation and improve resource allocation by increasing organic composition of capital,which effectively promote manufacturing efficiency.However,this promotion is not straightforward as it may be achieve through such factors as science and technology innovation capability,the concentration of science and technology service industry,and the level of human capital.In order to clarify the paths to promote manufacturing efficiency through science and technology service industry,this paper builds an intermediary effect model based on the panel data of 11 provinces(cities)in eastern China that enables an empirical study on the conditions for science and technology service industry to promote manufacturing efficiency.The results show that science and technology innovation capability has a complete intermediary effect.The concentration of science and technology services industry has a strong intermediary effect while the level of human capital has a weak intermediary effect.Therefore,establishing alliance of industry-university-research institute-+intermediary agencies,enchancing science and technology innovation capability of enterprises through resources integration,guiding science and technology service industry to generate spatial agglomeration according to urban agglomeration,creating one-stop science and technology services zone,cultivating self-innovation talents and improving the human capital level of enterprises are beneficial for science and technology service industry to promote manufacturing efficiency.
