Abstract:STEM is acronym for Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.STEM implements interdisciplinary teaching,innovation nurturing technological talent method,and becomes an important issue on science and technology education learning in advanced countries.This study explored the knowledge structure and development trends of STEM research topics with bibliometrics co-citation analysis.Retrieval from Web of Science (WoS)database,accessible the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI)and the Science Citation Index (SCI)journal articles from 1996 to 2016,the paper obtained 653 articles and 31174 citations.The results shows that:①There is a rapid increase on the number of studies literature published in recent years;②Research theme focuses on gender differences,race and curriculum standards,with “gender differences”as the core,and “teacher education”as the weakest;③There are ten main categories:there are four categories associated with psychology,secondly for education,engineering,multidisciplinary,social sciences,interdisciplinary;information science & library science;④The research topics and development trends of STEM are closely related to education,psychology,chemistry and other disciplines;⑤ “gender differences”and “teacher education”curriculum development in STEM,are worthy of further study.
