The Influence of Network Structure on Technological Capability from the Perspective of Competence-Governance

Abstract:Based on patent citation data of typical rail transit equipment manufacturing enterprises in China,the paper constructs a nonlinear dynamic threshold model with technical overlap as a threshold variable.Through the competence-governance perspective,the relationship between degree centrality and structural hole are incorporating into the research framework of the impact on technological capability,and exploring the mechanism and mode of action of network structure evolution on technological capability.The result show that,in the case of ability view,enterprises are more inclined to achieve core competence competitive advantage through profitability and complementary specialized knowledge.Under the influence of technology overlap,the network structure has an inverted U-shaped influence on the core technological capacity,and has significant three-weight threshold effect.In the case of governance view,the enterprises are more inclined to correct the rigidity of core competence and control information overload through dynamic organizational inertia.The network structure is influenced by the triple threshold variables of technology overlap,which has a negative effect on the non-core technological capacity.The research aims to provide theoretical and empirical references for the research on technological capacity development of strategic emerging enterprises.
