Relationship Between Innovation Path, Technology Density and Manufacturing International Competitiveness ——Based on Empirical Research in 17 Industries

Abstract:Based on the panel data of Chinas manufacturing industry from 2007 to 2017, this paper studies the impact of three innovation paths of independent research, collaborative innovation and non-research innovation on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, and introduces interactive items to analyze the moderating role of technical density in the relationship between the two.The results show that independent research and development has significantly promoted the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.At the same time, the interaction between high-tech manufacturing and independent research and development has improved the competitiveness of manufacturing industries better than low and medium-tech manufacturing industries;The collaborative innovation path has a negative impact on international competitiveness.However, the low and medium-tech manufacturing industry has a stronger stimulating effect on the relationship between collaborative innovation and competitiveness;Non-research innovation has a negative impact on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, but the higher the technology densityis, the stronger the stimulus for non-research innovation and competitiveness becomes.
