Is the Output Type of Inter-Firm Cooperative Innovation Predictable ——Based on the Role of Key Inventors

Abstract:Based on the patent data applied by the high-tech zones of China's Silk Road economic belt and the Yangtze River economic belt from 2003 to 2017,this article extracts 352 inter-firm cooperation ties and analyzes the relationship between the participation ratio of key inventors and the output type of inter-firm cooperative innovation.The moderating effect of intra-regional/inter-regional enterprises cooperation is also examined.The results show that the proportion of key inventors participating in the inter-firm cooperation has a negative impact on the exploratory innovation output of inter-firm cooperation and a positive impact on the exploitative innovation output.Compared with inter-regional enterprise cooperation,intra-regional enterprise cooperation positively moderates the impact of key inventors participation ratio on the exploratory innovation output and exploitative innovation output.
