Whether International Cooperative Research and Development of Enterprises Promote the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements or not:From Knowledge Innovation to Product Innovation

Abstract:Based on the panel data of Chinese listed companies from 2009 to 2018 and the micro database constructed by Python crawler and text mining technology,this paper empirically examines the effect and intermediate mechanism of international cooperative R&D on the transformation of enterprises' scientific and technological achievements.The results show the followings.①Firms' participation in international cooperative R&D can significantly improve the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.②Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect of international cooperative R&D on the efficiency of transformation differs according to different cooperative modes,properties of technology and industry characteristics.③Based on the mechanism research,it is found that the improvement of innovation quality is an important intermediary channel for enterprises' international cooperative R&D to promote the efficiency of scientific and technological achievement transformation.After distinguishing the transformation efficiency of knowledge innovation and product innovation,it shows that secondary transformation effect exists from knowledge innovation to product innovation.Different from the existing literatures that focus more on the external factors affecting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements,this paper explains why international cooperative R&D boosts the transformation of scientific and technological achievements from the internal perspective of innovation quality,which has certain theoretical and application value.
