Abstract:Despite the increasing efforts of society to refute rumors,varieties of scientific rumors still have a wide impact.Focusing on the public's scientific thinking ability is another important way to deal with scientific rumors.This research aims to reveal the relationship between public's scientific thinking and the ability to distinguish scientific rumors,and to explore ways to form the ability to deal with them.Based on combing global scientific thinking research and analyzing domestic scientific rumor texts,a scientific thinking ability index system has been constructed.Research under this framework discloses that urban residents' ability to distinguish rumors is low,and the structure of scientific thinking ability is unbalanced.Conventional scientific thinking and general critical thinking have a significant impact on the ability to distinguish rumors,while the ability to query data and academic qualifications have a significant impact on both.Among them,the residents' ability to query data has a strong influence,but the average ability is low.The cultivation of questioning authority,system theory and natural history thinking is presumed to be missing in science education.It is necessary to strengthen the intensity of science communication in the long-term and improve the public's ability to query information.Science education will have an effect in a longer time dimension.
