Research on Breakthrough Innovation of Latecomer Firms Based on Key Core Technology Breakthrough

Abstract:This paper selects NVIDIA,a chip industry giant,to make a single case study on the development process of breaking through the key core technologies and continuing breakthrough innovation through ‘pre-market action’.The research found that in the process of entering the industry,deeply cultivating the industry and leading the industry,NVIDIA has formed its own key core technologies,general innovation platform and innovation ecosystem for key core technologies by relying on breakthrough innovation of pre-market action.As an evolution node,it has made continuous breakthrough innovations in key core technologies,core development users and key core markets,and then developed from latecomer firm to incumbent enterprise,and then evolved into leading enterprise.This paper puts forward the concept of ‘pre-market action’,depicts the evolution process model of latecomer firm using breakthrough innovation to successfully break through the key core technologies,and reveals that ‘core users’and ‘key markets’are the fundamental motivation for the formation of ‘strangle hold’advantages of enterprises with key core technologies.
