Abstract:As the core subject of regional innovation system construction, universities are the important driving force of regional innovation capacity enhancement. This paper selects China's provincial panel data from 2009 to 2018, measures the comprehensive index of university science and technology innovation using the entropy weight TOPSIS method.Combining the evaluation results of regional innovation capacity in the China Regional Innovation Capability Evaluation Report, this paper studies the temporal evolution, spatial distribution, regional differences and spatial clustering characteristics of the coupling coordination degree between university science and technology innovation and regional innovation capacity. The results show the followings.①The university science and technology innovation and regional innovation capacity have high coupling degree during the study period, and the coupling coordination degree has a stable increasing trend, but the overall level is low.②The coupling coordination degree is heterogeneous in spatial distribution, from high to low in the order of eastern, central, northeastern, and western regions, and there is still a large gap in the coupling coordination level between regions and within regions.③ The Thiel index of national coupling coordination degree shows a fluctuating decreasing trend and the coupling coordination degree shows significant positive spatial clustering characteristics and has strong stability.
