Abstract：Taking 16 cities of Yangtze river delta region of China as examples,using GDP data of the 16 cities from 1981 to 2010,this paper constructs the cointegration model and ECM model to investigate the long-term and short-term city spatial economic relation in the area system and their co-competition effect .Our conclusion shows that there exists strong spatial economic relation in the region,and has formed a“two lines and two laps”type of space effect.However,Shanghai s influence in this areal system is insufficient,and it gives more competition effect than cooperative effect.
