Research on the Service Innovation Mode of Manufacturing for SOM——From Postponement Strategy Perspective

Abstract：This paper analyzed the service innovation mode of manufacturing during the period of China s economy transformation from the perspective of postponement strategy.Firstly,the literatures of service innovation and manufacturing innovation were reviewed to confirm the existence of service innovation in manufacturing.Secondly,the implementation mechanism of postponement strategy for service-oriented manufacturing was discussed,and we found that the service innovation supported the implementation process.Thirdly,the characteristics of service innovation were analyzed in both sides of customer order decoupling point from postponement strategy angle.Finally,two service innovation modes of manufacturing for service-oriented manufacturing were constructed.The result showed that the manufacturing enterprise could service innovation according to specific characteristics of its existing manufacturing industry,innovation paths were softening manufacturing process or outgoing extend along the“smile curve”.
