Abstract：This paper uses similarity in languages as the main standard of cultural proximity and analyses the effect of cultural proximity on university-industry cooperative innovation.By introducing university prestige as a control variable,the empirical tests are based on Chinese patent data from 2008 to 2012.The results shows that high university prestige will weaken the effect of geographical proximity on the probability of industry-university cooperative innovation.After controlling the university prestige,cultural proximity will weaken the effect too.Different cities on Chinese mainland show obviously different in-put or out-put vitality during the process of industry-university collaboration.
