Abstract：To quantitatively measure the intensity of inter-industry competition relations,this study proposes a two-dimensional conceptual model of inter-industry competition pressure,which is constituted by resource competition component and market competition component together,and also gives out its measure method based on the input-output perspective.The results show that the pressures of competition between industries have a directional,heterogeneous,symmetry and proportions of the basic nature.At the same time,Chinese input-output data in 2007 clearly shows that inter-industry competitive pressure obeys a log-normal distribution with an obviously power law tail,the intensity of competition within the industry is far more higher than external threats from other industries,and the competitive difference between internal and external industry is decreasing with industry chain,the competitive position of an industry is highly relevant to its scale of total input or total output in the region.
