Abstract：This paper analyzed the patents of the seven strategic emerging industries(SEIs) for international comparisons based on the Derwent patent database.Patent output trends of seven SEIs of China and the rest of the world as well as competitive situation of major national patents were studied in a systematic and in-depth way,and difference of leading enterprises in the technological innovation capability was also explored.Our findings indicate that US and Japan is the patent output power in seven SEIs.Although the number of public patents in Chinese seven SEIs has increased dramatically in recent years,and the growth rate of patent output in some SEIs is even faster than US and Japan,the technological innovation capability of Chinese firms still needs to be improved
