Abstract:Based on provincial panel data of manufacturing industry in China from 2001 to 2012,this paper explores the impact of industrial agglomeration on technological innovation and its regional differences.The theoretical analysis shows that the mechanism of industrial agglomeration could promote technological innovation,because industrial agglomeration can drive collaboration innovation effectively,and promote knowledge generation;industrial agglomeration can be good for spillover and diffusion of knowledge & technology,so as to drive technological innovation.Under the condition that S&T personnel,S&T funds,FDI as well as institutional innovation,the industrial agglomeration can promote the technological innovation obviously.Region-specific analysis reveals that impacts of industrial agglomeration on technological innovation of inter-regional are different:the impact of industrial agglomeration on technological innovation in eastern region is greater than in the central and western regions.Since the industrial agglomeration and technological innovation of eastern region are significantly higher than that of central & western regions,it deduces that the inter-regional differences of technological innovation would continue to grow
