Abstract：The paper analyzed the regional difference of two input factors,funds input and staffs input,for Chinas agricultural research based on Theil index,and studied their driving forces by constructing an economic model from 2002 to 2013.Results showed that:①The input of Chinas agricultural research had a stable increase overall,and the annual increase of funds input on average was larger than staffs input.The east region was of the highest input,and the west region took the second place,followed by the central region and the northeast region.②The overall difference between funds input and staffs input was narrowing,and the internal difference contributed more than the regional difference to the overall difference.③The funds input was significantly influenced by GDP and number of research institutions,while the staffs input was easier affected by current situation of agriculture.The resource poor regions had greater demands for agricultural research input than resourceful regions
