Abstract：Through the research of the 20 years’(1994—2013)elected age distribution of the gainer of distinguished science youth fund,it finds that the distinguished youth’s elected age showed unreasonable increasing trend.The trend has three drawbacks:declining of distinguished youth groups’ important research output rate,deviating from the target of the distinguished youth science fund,and forming the age barrier to the younger distinguished youth.It puts forward an improved scheme for promoting the distinguished youth science fund in discovering,stabilizing,cultivating outstanding young scientific and technological talents
