Abstract:Agricultural water-saving regionalization can promote the effective utilization of regional water resources and relieve the shortage of agricultural water, and it also provides the scientific policy-making basis for the agricultural sustainable development in Central Plains Economic Region(CPER).In view of the present water resources shortage and high agricultural water consumption in CPER,evaluation index system for agricultural water-saving regionalization was established with four class-1 indexes(topography, climatic, water utilization and cropping characteristics) and eighteen class-2 indices.Through principal component analysis, key indices of agricultural water-saving regionalization were selected. Then hierarchical cluster analysis was used to regionalize agricultural water-saving regionalization in CPER.According to the results and the real conditions of 43 municipalities(counties) in CPER,it was divided into 4 sub-regions.And then it was carried on spatial analysis with GIS.The results indicate that each agricultural water-saving regionalization is in better uniformity with the distribution of the climate features and agricultural structures determined by the geographical locations. As a result, the application of the index system and method can obtain the rational agricultural water-saving regionalization
