Abstract：As a developing country,China has a lot of enterprises in“passive locking”,and most of them are facing a vicious cycle of “constantly introduce-lag behind”.Therefore,clarifying the mechanism between the passive locking degree and innovation performance is particularly important.This article took the technology intensive latecomer firms in China as the research sample and studied the relationship between the passive locking degree of technical path,the innovation ability and technology innovation performance,and used the method of“adjusting path”in hypothesis testing.The empirical results show that the passive locking degree of technical path in enterprise respectively had inverted U-shaped relationship with the innovation ability and technology innovation performance,and the innovation ability played a mediation role in the relationship between the passive locking degree of technical path and technology innovation performance.
